Our wines

Riesling
Ried Wechselberg

The gneiss-rich soils of the Wechselberg are just made for mineral Rieslings! The Wechselberg is one of the geologically unique sites in the Strassertal. The predominant gneiss component produces wines with palpable minerality. Being south-facing, this ensures plenty of hours of sunshine during the day, while cool night currents flowing from the north provide for the necessary acidity.

grape variety:
Riesling

Wechselberg
soil:
gneiss (crystalline rock of the Bohemian Massif)

Over 320 metres high, the Wechselberg is one of the highest elevations in Strass. The rock is primarily composed of compact forms of paragneiss, which emerged from the Bohemian Massif millions of years ago. The grape material for our Riesling Wechselberg undergoes a brief maceration period, causing the fine stone fruit to be expressed in the later wine.
