Grüner Veltliner
Ried Wechselberg

The entry point into the Strasser vineyards! The powerful gneiss soils of the Wechselberg, shaped by the Bohemian Massif, are clearly apparent in the Grüner Veltliner Ried Wechselberg. The fine minerality on the nose, supported by a firm acidity, makes this wine an ideal accompaniment for food.

grape variety:
Grüner Veltliner
vineyard:
Wechselberg
soil:
gneiss (crystalline rock of the Bohemian Massif)

Over 320 metres high, the Wechselberg is one of the highest elevations in Strass. The rock is primarily composed of compact forms of paragneiss, which emerged from the Bohemian Massif millions of years ago. The grapes are harvested in mid-September, depending on the ripeness, and pressed as whole clusters. After at least six months spent on the lees, the Grüner Veltliner Wechselberg is bottled.
