Pinot Noir
Ried Stangl “HP”

A project of the young generation! The cool climate and loess-rich soil in the Stangl create a tailor-made environment for this premium grape variety. Fine fruit is the priority here. Almost a third of the grapes are picked for our sparkling wines in early September. The main harvest is at the beginning of October, only when the remaining grapes are physiologically ripe.

After a brief period of juice extraction, the grapes are fermented in open must fermentation vats. The must is only pressed after 14 days of maceration. The Pinot Noir Ried Stangl HP sits in new French barrique for 2 years until bottling. The juice extraction and the maceration time ensure the fine fruit and the delicate tannin in the later wine.
